From Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury Market Hall – Oh So British story

Oh So British stall at Shrewsbury Market Hall selling British gifts, handmade fudge and yarn

Every small business starts with an idea, a passion, and a little bit of courage. For Oh So British, our journey has been about celebrating the flavours, traditions and products that make Britain special, while building genuine relationships with our customers along the way.

Our story began in Bridgnorth, where we started introducing customers to our range of handmade fudge and British inspired products through local markets and events. Those early days were incredibly important for us. Meeting customers face to face, hearing their stories and seeing the excitement when they discovered our products helped shape the business into what it is today.

From our first market stalls, we quickly realised that people loved more than just the products themselves. They loved the story behind them, the personal service, and the experience of buying from a small independent business.

As Oh So British grew, so did our dreams for the future. We wanted to create a place where customers could discover not only our famous fudge, but a wider range of carefully chosen gifts and products inspired by British traditions.

The Next Step in Our Journey

In February 2026, while relaxing on a sun lounger during a holiday, I happened to see that Made to Love was up for sale. I immediately thought what a lovely business it was and decided to send an email to find out more details.

The idea of having a more permanent home for Oh So British felt like the perfect next step. After building the business through markets, events and pop ups, the opportunity to become part of a vibrant indoor market community was incredibly exciting.

The more I learned about Made to Love and Shrewsbury Market Hall, the more I could see the potential. It was a chance to bring together everything we had built so far and create a welcoming space where customers could find unique gifts, handmade items and products they wouldn’t find on the high street.

Finding Our Home at Shrewsbury Market Hall

Becoming part of Shrewsbury Market Hall marked an exciting new chapter for Oh So British.

Shrewsbury Market Hall is a fantastic community of independent traders, each with their own story, passion and products. Being surrounded by other small businesses and welcoming customers through our doors every week has been an amazing experience.

Our stall has allowed us to expand our range beyond confectionery. Alongside our handmade fudge, customers can now discover British inspired gifts, fragrances, skincare, jewellery, candles and our growing selection of yarn and knitting supplies.

Although our range has grown, our values have stayed the same. We still believe in offering quality products, friendly service and creating a shopping experience that feels personal.

More Than Just a Business

Oh So British has always been about bringing people together.

Whether someone visits us looking for a special gift, treats themselves to their favourite fudge, picks up a new knitting project, or simply stops for a chat, we want every customer to feel welcome.

One of the most rewarding parts of running a small business is seeing familiar faces return and knowing that customers are choosing to support an independent family business.

Looking Ahead

Our journey from Bridgnorth markets to Shrewsbury Market Hall is only the beginning.

We are continuing to grow, develop our online presence, introduce new products and meet even more wonderful customers along the way. Every purchase, every conversation and every recommendation helps us continue doing what we love.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported Oh So British so far. From our very first market days in Bridgnorth to our new home at Shrewsbury Market Hall, you have all played a part in our story.

We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
